Obtaining
Natural generation
Nether Quartz Ore can be spawned in the Nether in the form of veins. Nether quartz ore attempts to replace netherrack 16 times per chunk in spots of size 0-24, from levels 10 to 117, in all Nether biomes except basalt deltas. In the basalt deltas, Nether Quartz ore tries to spawn 32 times per chunk as there are fewer valid spawn areas.
Break
Nether Quartz Ore can be mined with any pick, or drop nothing. If extracted with Silk Touch, the block falls off by itself. Otherwise, drop 1 Nether Quartz (or more with Fortuna).

Curiosities
- Prior to Update 1.16, Nether Quartz was the first and only Nether ore available.
- It is the first ore whose texture is not based on stone; it is based on the Nether.
- Unlike Netherrack, fire does not crackle indefinitely in Nether quartz ores.
- Despite being modeled after netherrack, quartz ore has the same blast resistance as other ores. In addition, quartz block has an explosion resistance of 4, while netherrack only 2. However, for some reason, despite being created from netherrack and quartz, its resistance to explosions is much higher, of 15.
- Due to the high amount of experience it drops, quartz ore is minced to gain levels fast. In fact, it is faster than a generator-based XP system. However, unlike these systems, it cannot be done over and over again.
- Quartz ore and emerald ore are the only ones that depend on a biome.
